History of the Jagdschloss Kühtai (1280 - 1622)
„Imperial hospitality at an altitude of 2.000 m.“
”Chutay“ was
mentioned in 1280 in the charter belonging to the Count of Tyrol. At this
time the
mountain pasture at the heart of Sellrain, at an altitude of 1967 metres,
was of no great interest to the Petersberg landowners.
The fate of the château is very colourful, after all the imperial
Count Meinhard II originated from Tyrol.
In 1497 hunting was put under the supervision of Emperor Maximilian I. His
majesty was deeply impressed by the ”Gejaide zu Kühtai“ and
in the local charter it is written that ”his majesty and only his majesty
may hunt the same mountain goat.“
